Named for Pvt. Francis H. "Frank" Hicks born in 1841 in Washtenaw County, Michigan. He enlisted in company B, Second Cavalry, Sept. 9. 1861, at Dansville, for 3 years, age 20. Mustered Oct. 2, 1861. Died at Hamburg, Tenn., May 7, 1862. Buried in Shiloh National Military Park in Shiloh, Hardin County, Tennessee.
Chartered September 18, 1882. Original charter lost and replaced due to fire on August 13, 1903. Disbanded July 24th, 1917. Ingham County News. Thursday, July 26th, 1917. "Special meeting of the G.A.R. was held Tuesday at the home ... W. Raymond at it was decided ... account of the small number they would disband as an organization and ...der its charter." ***The edge of the paper was missing so some of the words were missing (represented by the ...). |
