Robert "Mike" Hayhoe

Eaton Rapids, formerly of Onondaga - Passed away January 10, 2019 at the age of 91. Robert was born on the family farm in Dansville, May 6, 1927, the son of Lloyd and Corla (Bravender) Hayhoe. He left High School at the age of 16 to proudly serve with the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater as a Quarter Master. Robert worked closely with the MSU Agriculture Department and won an award for innovative farming methods with the Ingham Co. Soil Conservation District. He retired from farming in 1989. Robert was the former director of the Leslie Co-Op Elevator, volunteered with the Eaton Special Riding and Habitat for Humanity, was a member of the Mason VFW Lodge 7309 and attended Onondaga Community Church. He enjoyed wintering in Manatee RV Park in Ruskin, FL for the past 25 years. Robert is survived by his daughters, Susan Fernald of Narrow Lake, Sally (Herb) Poe of Port Clinton, OH, Janis (Stephen) Haskell of Onondaga, Jill (Mark) Cruth of Onondaga; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Donovan (Doreen) Hayhoe of Eaton Rapids; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Donna (Burch) and Barbara (Raby); granddaughter, Kimberly Cooper; brothers, Osmond Hayhoe, Alfred Hayhoe, Lloyd Hayhoe Jr; sisters, Helen Unterbrink, Evadeen Osborn, Bette Schmidt, Murryne Communal. Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday January 13, 2019 at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids with Pastor Bill Muller officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 pm and Sunday one hour prior to the service.
